Cradle – New Music Video

I was on a day-trip with friends to Cordoba at the weekend and I found myself adoring some Easter sunshine in the Alcazar courtyard next to this cute looking pool. I had my DSLR with me and thought I’d shoot some film, because water always looks better when it’s moving. It wasn’t long until I started shooting this video, and decided I’d keep the camera rolling for about four minutes in case I wanted to turn it into a music video. I was recording my right hand with my left.

Those of you who know I’m quite handy with a puppet will probably be able to predict what will happen quite soon after my hand becomes involved in the visuals. I’d be interested to see the variety of animals you think it’s trying to emulate on a quest to capture the light, before realising it never will.

Cradle is a song about letting go. The lyrics refer to someone who’s raised someone else and now lets them fly, taking on their own adventures and hoping they’ll remember their nurture and that they’ll pass the love and support offered to them onto others in their lifetime.

I welcome your interpretations to the song; I don’t really go into detail about what individual lyrics mean because I don’t want to sour any fresh interpretations. By all means talk to me about it if you like, however.

I hope you enjoy it, and I welcome any feedback.
